“America in Motion offers a small glimpse into the lives of often overlooked laborers, stories of pride, adversity, and the bonds that unite all workers. The full work is inhabited by characters from all walks of life, including miners, mothers, farmers, factory workers, railroad workers, and more. We explore the obstacles they face, the joys they experience, and the echoes of their stories today.” — Brian Lawton, Associate Director / Show Creator The Vanaver Caravan brings America in Motion to Godfrey Daniels' Ice House stage, combining live music and dance to explore the lives, labor, struggles, joys, and connections that shape the American story. Set in an American diner and performed with fiddle, guitar, banjo, vocals, percussion, and movement drawn from American dance traditions and contemporary forms, the production reflects on labor, identity, heritage, and shared humanity. As the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary, America in Motion offers an opportunity to listen, watch, and reflect together. The evening will be presented in partnership with Lehigh University Art Galleries' exhibition of This Land: Reimagining The United States of America on its 250th Anniversary. They will have extended hours on October 16 for visiting the gallery ahead of the Ice House performance.
