A recent graduate of African-American history at Princeton University, Alex was an active member of the Jazz Program during all four years, working with Darcy James Argue, Rudresh Mahanthappa, and studying privately with Ralph Bowen. Since moving to New York in 2020, he has performed with his own projects and the likes of the Christian McBride Big Band, Rachel Z, the Ed Palermo Big Band, and the George Gee Swing Orchestra at venues such as Birdland, Dizzy’s, the Django, Drom, Closeup, Room 623, Ornithology, Shanghai Jazz, and the Iridium. He was the music director for the Jazz House All-Stars on the Blue Note at Sea Cruise in January 2023. Alex was a Ravinia Jazz Fellow in the summer of 2023 and a 2024 recipient of the ASCAP Herb Alpert Foundation Young Jazz Composer Award. Alex is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Jazz Performance at Manhattan School of Music.   This event is All Ages Seating is first-come, first-served; the last 10 spots in the room are standing room.
