Jochen Rueckert / Drums John Ellis / Tenor Sax Mike Moreno / Guitar Matt Penman / Bass Jochen Rueckert was born in 1975 near Koeln, Germany and started playing drums at age six. In 1995 he moved to NYC, where he lives now. Jochen is mostly known for his work in the last 12 years of the Marc Copland trio, the mid-2000 Kurt Rosenwinkel Quartet, all of Nils Wogram's Root 70, the Sam Yahel piano trio, Melissa Aldana trio, his electronic music programmed under the alias "Wolff Parkinson White" as well as his series of ebooks aptly titled "Read the Rueckert- travel observations and pictures of hotel rooms". Jochen has been leading his own Quartet with Mark Turner and Lage Lund for the last 9 years. John Ellis is widely recognized as one of New York’s premiere tenor saxophone voices. With more than 150 album credits as a sideman, John can be heard with artists as wide ranging as Charlie Hunter, Kendrick Scott Oracle, Darcy James Argue, Dr Lonnie Smith, and Helen Sung. John has released nine albums as a leader, three of those featuring his wildly popular New Orleans-centered band Double-Wide. Mike Moreno is a jazz guitarist and composer from Houston, Texas. According to an NPR interview in 2008, Moreno's main musical influences include trumpeter Freddie Hubbard, saxophonist Wayne Shorter, and pianist Herbie Hancock, as well as guitarists Pat Metheny and Bill Frisell.
