A riot of rhythm, groove and soaring melodies, Fraka are a seven-piece collective that fuse jazz with afrobeat, broken beat, highlife and hip-hop. Expect deep, hypnotic grooves, lush psychedelic textures, tight horn lines and driving rhythms – all built for the dancefloor. Their name comes from "fracas" – a noisy, unruly clash – and that spirit runs through their live shows, where improvisation meets infectious energy. With members from across Europe, fraka bring a fearless and fresh take on jazz fusion and are the perfect band to launch your Friday night. Support comes from Body Orchestra, a group united by a love of improvisation and experimental sound. Their live sets shift from folk ballads to free jazz to ambient noise, inspired by Ornette Coleman, Nick Drake, Tim Hecker and Swans. Dynamic and immersive – one for the curious listener. Opening and closing the night is Gionatan Scali, the Turin-born, East London-based artist and activist who leads an ensemble under his own name. Earlier this year he played a sold-out show at Grow – now he returns to the booth, setting the tone from the start and keeping the party moving until close.
