Public Sound Sessions returns for another summer in Brooklyn, this time taking over The Nursery at Public Records for what could be the final NYC appearance of the legendary Channel One Sound System feat. Ras Sherby. Founded in London in 1979, Channel One, led by selector Mikey Dread, is a defining force in UK sound system culture, known for their roots and dub selection, vinyl-only approach, and deep, communal sessions, from Notting Hill Carnival to dances across the UK and beyond. Hosted by Dub-Stuy, the day opens with A Rub-A-Dub Journey, a vocalist-led showcase featuring UK spitfire Ras Demo and New York’s own JonnyGo Figure. Spanning four decades of MC culture, the session moves through foundation dancehall, dubwise selections, and into jungle, built around live freestyles, classic riddims, and continuous system pressure. About Public Sounds Session Public Sound Sessions is a collaborative summer series by Dub-Stuy and Public Records, centered on the foundations and ongoing evolution of global sound system culture. Each session brings together originators, innovators, and local crews, moving from daytime into early evening on high-powered systems, set against the backdrop of summer in Brooklyn. \- Public Records aims to provide a safer space.
