Poetry Writing Workshop- Food For Thought — live event on Aug 17, 2026

Poetry Writing Workshop- Food For Thought at Morocco Bound Bookshop on Mon, Aug 17, 6:30 PM. Tickets from $12.47. Lineup, start time and tickets on Ckord.
What makes food such fertile ground for poetry? From family recipes and favourite meals to hunger, pleasure and ritual, food can open up questions of memory, identity and belonging. In this session we'll explore how poets use food to tell stories, evoke emotion and connect us to the world around us. This popular workshop series invites you to explore a different poetic theme every fortnight. You’ll take inspiration from life, art, music, nature, the city & of course poetry – reading published work, responding to writing prompts, giving each other feedback and most importantly connecting with fellow poetic souls! Everyone should leave with the beginnings of one or two poems & plenty of inspiration to keep writing. **Rough schedule** 6:30-6:40pm: welcome, time to grab a drink 6:40-7:00pm: warm-up exercise & discussion 7:00-7:45pm: reading, discussing, writing 7:45-8:00pm: break 8:00-8:30pm: reading, discussing, writing 8:30-9:00pm: sharing, workshopping, editing *Ruth is a London-based poet & tutor originally from the West Midlands.
