Chick Wallace, Oceaneater & Radium Jaw — live event
Self-proclaimed generator of “Salty Girl Songs”, the four-piece entitled Chick Wallace pumps out indie rock tunes with powerful, slightly punk-influenced vocals. Oceaneater brings a freshness to the genres of surf and garage rock. A decidedly southern essence permeates this traditionally west coast sound, verging on the point of country a la Johnny Cash and Dr. Hook. While purposely not re-inventing the wheel (honestly the more you over think rock and roll, generally the worse it is) he does seamless mesh his own origin and upbringing into a style of music that’s never quite seen such a pairing. Coming from Atlanta, Georgia, Radium Jaw emerge with Faded Out, a fine debut EP, and an archetypal shoegaze sound, showcasing an interesting dichotomy between softness and grit. Although the band's music is self described as 'soft rock', Radium Jaw seem to be one of the newest, most expressive purveyors of classic-oriented shoegaze pop.
