FSN Presents ; Miriam Elhajli + Victor Campbell Our next FSN Presents Salon performance features the singular musical voices of Miriam Elhajli and Victor Campbell . Miriam is an improviser, poet-vocalist, record label founder, and scholar whose nuanced work is influenced equally by her Venezuelan and Moroccan heritage, the history of traditional South American farming techniques, and her musicological research. Victor is a prodigious piano player from Camagüey, Cuba, whose compelling style combines virtuosity, whimsy, charisma and technical prowess, and incorporates a deep love for the musical styles of New Orleans. In 2019, the great Chucho Valdés predicted that Victor would revolutionize Cuban jazz piano. The two will each present a solo set, and then also join forces to sing some boleros, joropos, and repertoire from all over South America. Grounded in Found Sound Nation’s ethos that encourages the diminishing of boundaries in music-making and music-listening — be they ethnic, cultural, or stylistic — FSN Presents features a diverse curation of artists from our global FSN network. Each concert features an FSN-curated artist who, in turn, invites a guest to share the bill.
