Emruz Festival: “Aaaway-e Awara” (Displaced Voices)

Displaced Voices showcases the works of Afghan Composers alongside novel arrangements of Afghan folk and pop music, performed by the Freeharmonic orchestra members. The Afghanistan Freeharmonic Orchestra (AFO) unites musicians around the world so the sounds of freedom and hope are heard in even the darkest places. Inspired by the “Woman, Life, Freedom” Movement that erupted in Iran and around the world in 2022, Emruz Festival 2024 performances are focused on shining light on the struggles and triumphs of Iranian and Afghan Women. ‍ Through 3 different music and theater performances, Emruz Festival aims to investigate and express different voices that intersect on the urgency of freedom; the urgency of connection; and the urgency to listen with intensity.
