SUPER BOCKEMSTOCK X NEW COLOSSUS FESTIVAL PRESENT: LIO & STEVE'S COLOSSAL BIRTHDAY BASH NINO DISCO: NYC/BK Ecuadorian Disco Artist DEAD TOOTH: After an early stint drumming and singing in Haybaby (Tiny Engines), Zach James began writing and self-producing folk records in his bedroom, donning the name The Silver Spaceman. The project evolved into a post-punk band featuring Andrew Bailey (DIIV) on lead guitar. It snarled and simmered around darker textures, miles away from its early folk roots. James looked to his darkened smile and rechristened the project Dead Tooth. They gained momentum opening for bands like Hand Habits, The Space Lady and Current Joys. After recording their second EP entitled Pig Pile, the pandemic disembodied the band as it did so many others. Ambitious to keep the momentum going and release the EP, James rebuilt the project from the ground up. He added an EWI/Sax player and relinquished his own live guitar duties for a frontman stage persona. The new crew consisting of Taylor Mitchell, James Duncan, Max Idas, Ginno Tacsiat and John Stanesco was quickly picked up by Rough Trade Publishing and Trash Casual Records. Shortly after, they went on to win OWL Winter Madness (a 16 band, 5 week long "battle of the bands" at Brooklyn's legendary rooftop venue Our Wicked Lady). They then found themselves playing SPIN Magazine’s SXSW showcase alongside The Lemonheads, Bass Drum of Death and Pom Pom Squad. SPIN wrote of SXSW, "If there was someone who really broke out...it was Brooklyn’s Dead Tooth.” BALACLAVA: Originally started as a solo of Dylan Joyce aka BALA, but has now become a five-piece live band based in Ridgewood, Queens. The looming question that they seek to answer is, “What does animated trash sound like?” The band attempted to answer this with their debut EP, Have a Taste, highlighting their lo-fi and analog approach to recording. They have captured a warm sound, described their music as “NYC Trash,” but undoubtedly the band is far more than trash. Their EP, THE 1/4 INCH ALMANAC, is coming out on Friday, March 1st with tapes being made by Orlando based label Godless America. Starcleaner Reunion: Starcleaner Reunion is a (euro)pop band from NYC. They sound real good and you should get into their bright and catchy (and danceable!) musical goodness immediately. PIPPY: PIPPY who was born Bruce Modicue Jr on September 23, 1988 in Carbondale, Illinois but raised in Cairo, IL. Is an American rapper that is currently unsigned but definitely not far from stardom. PIPPY is a young, swagged out, talented individual who's in a class of his own. An knows exactly what he wants in life and will stop at nothing to accomplish his dream. He eat, sleep, breath, and lives music. There is nothing else he would rather be doing. His biggest influences are his MOTHER(who has had his back since day one) and his FANS. He recently released his first mixtape "I Give To Receive." Which is highly recommended and definitely a must have mixtape. PIPPY is a very hardworking guy that always complete and master anything he does. He deserves nothing but the TOP. He is so confident and great at what he does.
