Fluent in many of his native Brazil’s musical styles and straight-ahead jazz, drummer Vanderlei Pereira has been one of the most sought-after musicians on the contemporary Brazilian jazz scene since moving from Rio to New York in 1988.Pereira became sightless as a youngster but has developed into a significant bandleader and composer with his own distinct musical concept and a valuable sideman. Jazzwize magazine called his group's 2020 debut album, Vision For Rhythm, "Glorious."
