Lineup: Sam Barsh - Piano Derek Nievergelt - Bass David Hawkins - Drums With a Grammy-winning and multi-platinum discography of over 400 records to thousands of live performances all across the globe, producer, songwriter and keyboardist Sam Barsh is a true musical triple-threat. Bringing his experience as a top-call pianist on the NYC jazz scene to studio collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, Anderson .Paak, Doja Cat and The Weeknd, Barsh has successfully been on the front line of re-incorporating sophisticated harmony into today’s popular music. Barsh has written and/or produced over 400 commercially released songs, with 22 Gold and Platinum certifications, 2 #1 singles and 4 #1 albums on the Billboard 200. He co-wrote the Kanye West feat. The Weeknd and Lil Baby single “Hurricane” which reached #1 on multiple charts, and won the GRAMMY Award for Best Melodic Rap Performance. Barsh also co-wrote the smash Aloe Blacc song “The Man,” which sold 4 million singles worldwide and reached #1 on the UK Singles Chart and #8 on the Billboard Hot 100. Heavily steeped in the jazz world as well as music production and songwriting, Barsh maintains a schedule of around 100 live performances per year. His group Straight08 with Mark Guiliana and Keyon Harrold released their self-titled album in June 2026, and he leads the Sam Barsh Trio, which reimagines pop, hip-hop and R&B hits through the lens of a classic acoustic piano trio. As a sideman, Barsh toured with the iconic bassist and composer Avishai Cohen’s trio for 3 years, recording 3 albums and a live DVD at New York’s famed Blue Note jazz club. He has worked with many renowned jazz artists, including Cassandra Wilson, Gregory Porter, Jane Monheit, Roy Hargrove, Snarky Puppy, Robin Eubanks and Lonnie Plaxico. His work as a songwriter and keyboardist on Kendrick Lamar’s Platinum-certified album “To Pimp A Butterfly” won 3 GRAMMY Awards and a nomination for Album of the Year. Barsh’s work as a songwriter on Kanye West’s album “Donda” won a GRAMMY for Best Melodic Rap Performance and a nomination for Album of the Year at the 2022 GRAMMYs. Barsh was nominated for the 2021 GRAMMY Award for Best R&B song as a co-writer on Tiana Major9 and EarthGang’s single “Collide” His work on Anderson .Paak’s groundbreaking album “Malibu,” BJ the Chicago Kid’s “In My Mind,” Ledisi’s “Let Love Rule” and on the “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” soundtrack has garnered an additional 4 GRAMMY Nominations. Other notable studio credits include songs with Chance the Rapper, A$AP Rocky, J.Cole, Logic, Norah Jones, Eminem and Macy Gray. Barsh has released 2 full length albums and 2 EPs as part of the electro-pop duo Palter Ego along with vocalist Jesse Palter, as well as a number solo albums: “Old Tools New Rules” and “I Forgot What You Taught Me,” the “Sam Barsh and the Deli” Spotify Sessions (which has amassed over 20 million streams); “The Nine,” an album commissioned by the Skirball Center for their “Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg” exhibit; and a series of instrumental beat compilations.
