The unmistakable sound of NYC’s LEYA occupies a space between many worlds—equally medieval, folk, contemporary classical, and pop—expressed with a unique sensuality. The duo consists of harpist Marilu Donovan, who uses a distinctive tuning system designed specifically for LEYA, and vocalist/violinist Adam Markiewicz, who blends operatic singing with warm string tones. Together, they cast a sound that is otherworldly, uneasy, and euphoric. LEYA has made a global impression with two acclaimed albums and a range of collaborations spanning a mixtape, porn, major fashion house commissions, film and dance scores, visual art installations, and a slew of additional singles and features. Notable collaborators include Eartheater, Ecco2K, Varg2TM, Brooke Candy, Actress, Liturgy, Okay Kaya, Julie Byrne, and many others. x3butterfly is a Mexican/American DJ and producer from Detroit, currently based in New York. While studying at California Institute of the Arts, they began their career in music as an experimental performance artist.
