A perennial winner of the DownBeat, JazzTimes, and Jazziz Critics and Readers Polls, Turre has performed with legends including Ray Charles, Art Blakey, Dizzy Gillespie, McCoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock, Tito Puente, Max Roach, and Rahsaan Roland Kirk, who introduced him to the musical possibilities of the seashell.
