BROOKLYN MAQAM presents: WEAVERS

Brooklyn Maqam is an organization dedicated to presenting Middle Eastern (in particular, Arabic) music, with the goals of expanding its audience, preserving it as an art form, and building community centered around the music. THIS MONTH: WEAVERS Drawing on his extensive experiences in the jazz and Arabic music worlds, Gideon Forbes ' new project, Weaver, showcases music that embraces the rich improvisational and compositional features of these two music traditions. This performance will feature Gideon's original compositions that challenge musical expectations and broaden sonic possibilities, creating a musical synthesis that is both personal and deeply rooted.
