Michael Murphy is a singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer in Nashville, TN. Originally hailing from Wisconsin, he grew up playing classical music, later turning to rock and pop music, where he started a band with his two brothers. While studying Jazz Composition, Guitar, and Classical Voice as an undergrad at Lawrence University, Murphy transitioned into producing and recording music for various bands and solo artists. He has recorded the downbeat award-winning Lawrence University Jazz Ensemble and multiple bands and projects from jazz and RnB to rock and pop. His solo work combines his love for 70s Pop/Rock/Americana. Pulling huge influence from James Taylor, The Band, Little Feat, Steely Dan, Elton John, and Todd Rundgren. His powerful voice, strong guitar playing, exceptional stage presence, and attention to detail have made him a sought-after performer and collaborator for over a decade.
