From States Away is an alt/punk/emo band from NYC. Our new full length record "Sun In My Eyes" is now streaming everywhere. Sockeye is a project spawned from the seemingly aimless yet intimidating era of a post-COVID world and for those unsure of their place moving forward in the 2020s. The New York-based band combines influences of pensive storytelling with alt-pop-inspired melodies to ponder heartbreak, regrettable decisions, and coming to terms with adulthood. Their first single “Entrée” was released in May of 2023, a humorously dark song comparing an unhealthy relationship to cannibalism. The track introduced listeners to their patient narrative style, a throughline that would continue on the more somber "Still Listening" EP. Sockeye was founded by Hayden Carr-Loize in a very small bedroom in Midtown Manhattan. Simple Son Vulnerable lyrical storytelling over earthy strings defined Simple Son's first release, 'Birthday Card' and will continue to weave a thread through future releases that intend to blur the lines between indie folk and rock. Inhabiting a space at the intersection of the personal and the universal, Simple Son aims to give a melodic voice to the mundane, ubiquitous struggles of life as an average aimless 20-something.
