Cognitive Control and Mystical Surrender — live event on Sep 27, 2026
Cognitive Control and Mystical Surrender at Ernest Records, Brooklyn on Sun, Sep 27, 6:30 PM. Tickets from $28.33. Lineup, start time and tickets on Ckord.
Join a cognitive neuroscientist and psychedelic specialist for Cognitive Control and Mystical Surrender — a discussion on how the mind is shaped by psychedelic substances, meditation, and noetic experience. Psychedelic-assisted therapy is one of the fastest-growing areas in mental health research; the brain’s usual grip on attention and control starts to loosen, and so-called mystical experiences emerge. This lecture will bridge measurable data, philosophy of mind, and the deeply personal feelings of oneness, unity, and intuitive knowing. No neuroscience background required. This is a fun, accessible, community-oriented event; come curious and ready to learn! About The Speaker: Isabel Bermudez is a neuroscientist specializing in psychoactive substances and their effects on the brain. She earned her B.S. in Cognitive Neuroscience from Carnegie Mellon University, where she conducted research in the Concepts, Actions, and Objects Lab. She recently completed her M.S. in Psychoactive Pharmaceutical Investigation at UW-Madison School of Pharmacy, the first graduate program dedicated to the scientific study of psychedelic drugs."
