On its 20th anniversary, Pique-nique presents Jesse Fischer & Raydar Ellis reinterpreting J Dilla's Donuts — celebrating its enduring legacy on hip-hop, jazz, and the art of sampling. Part of the Take Two deep-listening series: the evening begins with a playback of the original record, followed by a live reimagining. Assembled from hundreds of crate-dug samples and built without a single repeating loop, Donuts rewired what a hip-hop record could be. Jesse Fischer and Raydar Ellis will bring their own voices to this reimagining, connecting Dilla's record culture roots to the traditions of jazz and improvised music.
