ELECTRIC ROSE - THE ROSA COHEN EXPERIENCE Ilya Shneyveys and Sarah Myerson present “Electric Rose: The Rosa Cohen Experience.'' Born in 19th century Kyiv (Ukraine), Rosa Cohen brought her family’s unique repertoire of Yiddish ballads, Hebrew prayers and Slavic folk songs to the New World, where she was interviewed and recorded by Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett in the 1970s. Sarah’s and Ilya’s wildly electric multi-instrumental arrangements re-imagine these stories of love and loss, work and immigration in exciting and unexpected new ways.
