This mandolin pioneer is widely hailed as the father of “newgrass,” blending bluegrass tradition with rock, jazz, and reggae into a sound that’s both innovative and deeply rooted. A Kentucky native and child prodigy fiddler, Bush rose to prominence as co-founder of the groundbreaking New Grass Revival before launching a celebrated solo career that has spanned decades. Along the way, he’s performed with icons like Emmylou Harris and Lyle Lovett, earned multiple IBMA awards, and received the Americana Music Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Instrumentalist. Known for his electrifying stage presence and genre-defying musicianship, Bush continues to captivate audiences and inspire generations, making every live performance an unforgettable experience.
