Mike Floss and Rod McGaha: Regeneration Live — live event

Rod McGaha is a musician and visual artist working in Nashville who specializes in portrait photography in which his subjects are incorporated in a swirl of activ-ism, music, and Black identity. The idea of regeneration is central to McGaha's practice; he strives to create an atmosphere of regrowth after the COVID-19 pandemic. Because he is an acclaimed jazz trum-peter, music also informs his art-making process. He was mentored by the great Clark Terry of the Duke Ellington and Count Basie bands. From bold hues to muted black and white, McGaha's versatile color palette produces vivid digital collages of Black liveliness. Mike Floss is a hip hop artist and Native Nashvillian creating art to celebrate, inspire, and explore the human experience through the lens of the Black South. After college he soon became a full time rapper opening for artists (including Pusha T, Future, and others), touring nationwide, and performing at major festivals including Made In America, Bonnaroo, to name a few. In 2022 he began performing outside the US, amassing millions of streams, and continuing to further his music career. However, it was in 2020 when Floss committed to movement work and began building power in the South with the Black Nashville Assembly. In 2022 he released the EP ‘Contraband’ as the first music artist in residence with the DC based Civil Rights Corps. In result, this project was awarded EP of the year by Nashville Scene.
