Lineup: Maria BC, Kathryn Mohr, Claire Cronin Thurs., 10/22/26 Maria BC, Kathryn Mohr, Claire Cronin 8pm, $15 adv., $18 door Maria BC (Sacred Bones) Ohio-born, Oakland, CA-based artist Maria BC (they/them) has slowly opened up their process over the years, moving from the one-room recording process of 2021 EP Devil’s Rain — careful not to disturb their roommates or neighbors — to the untreated apartment wanderings of Hyaline (2022, Father/Daughter), to the home of a family friend featuring an out-of-tune baby Steinway piano where they recorded their Sacred Bones debut, Spike Field (2023). 2026 will see the release of their sophomore Sacred Bones record Marathon. "Maria BC is a classically trained vocalist, a dexterous guitarist, and a songwriter with an innate gift for vast, stately melodies, but the defining strength of their music is the mood: an overarching melancholy that shadows everything like heavy storm clouds." — Pitchfork https://www.sacredbonesrecords.com/collections/maria-bc https://www.instagram.com/mariab4christ/?hl=en Kathryn Mohr Kathryn Mohr was not put on this earth to make fun, bubbly party albums. The Oakland-based experimental musician keeps her dissonant, Gothic folk music firmly planted in the moss-covered forest floor. A place where the sun never penetrates, leaving the ground forever damp and the air thick with the scent of fungi, wet tree bark, and decomposition. Kathryn’s debut, the weird and disquieting Waiting Room, is perfectly comfortable on record label The Flenser. Much like that California-based record label’s roster, Mohr’s music is eerie and despondent. Sparsely filled out with acoustic guitar, keys, Kathryn’s own ghostly distant vocals, and field recordings that were created in Iceland where Mohr recorded the album at a former fish packing plant, now an artist retreat. The isolation of the landscape – along with its never ending days of summer and perpetual nights of winter – come through easily in the aged-sounding songs. https://kathrynmohr.bandcamp.com/ https://www.instagram.com/kathryn__mohr/?hl=en Claire Cronin Claire Cronin is a musician and writer based in Berkeley, CA, known for her poetic, haunting folk songs on electric guitar.
