Ustad Naseeruddin Saami is a recent recipient of the Aga Khan Music Awards Patron Award, recognized as the foremost living master of the 49-note Surti scale and the custodian of the Delhi Gharana’s Khayal tradition, a lineage stretching back over 800 years to Amir Khusrau, the founder of the tradition. In a rare and immersive single-sitting performance, Ustad Saami and the Saami Brothers will perform Khayal and Qawwali, unfolding as intended by the tradition.
