The Simon Dufour Trio presents an eclectic instrumental sound that draws inspiration from jazz, hip hop, and soul. Fans of Miles Davis to A Tribe Called Quest alike will find something to cherish in this music. Featuring Simon Dufour on alto saxophone, Graeme Gengras on keyboards/synth bass, and Mikiya Ito on drums, the band achieves a full, and big soundscape that makes it hard to believe there are only three musicians on the stage. Saxophonist and composer Simon Dufour developed his professional accolades in Chicago in the 2010s and has built a reputation as a go-to saxophonist for all things that blend jazz, hip-hop, and soul. He has performed and recorded with Lizzo, Saba, and Gryffin among others. He also led the popular Chicago based hip-hop/jazz group Dassit. Born and raised in New York City in 1988, Simon was deeply influenced by New York's thriving hip-hop and jazz scenes; those sounds have been a constant source of inspiration for his music. Simon moved back to New York City as recently as 2021.
