With a line-up of top-tier players and sharp arrangements that honour the likes of Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway and Count Basie, this is live jazz with its collar loosened and rhythm turned up. Jay Phelps, a regular on the London jazz scene and a standout performer in the BBC’s Dancing on the Edge, is known for his work alongside Wynton Marsalis, Jazz Jamaica, and Amy Winehouse. His playing is all groove and precision, effortlessly carrying the band through hard-swinging classics like “It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing)” with flair and fire. Formed in collaboration with pianist and musical director Mike Paul-Smith, also the founder of the UK’s renowned Down for the Count, the band brings together seasoned musicians who’ve performed at venues
