Thee Sinseers & The Altons: Sinseerly Yours Tour — live event

Benny Trokan Daptone's rock subsidiary, Wick Records, would like to introduce the newest member in our stable of stars, Benny Trokan. You may recognize this fine fellow as the bass player for such acts as Spoon, Reigning Sound, Lee Field's Expressions, and The Jay Vons. Luckily for us he found some down time to pen these killers we offer up on state-of-the-art petroleum based discs, all of which were recently compiled onto his digital 6-song EP "Hey Lovers." From the opening melancholic 12-string riff of "Turn Back You Fool" a floaty, genre-bending ballad that one might expect on a Brenton Wood a-side, all the way to the tough tale of a malcontented lover on "Too Far Gone," Trokan brings us through the spectrum of 60s influenced music. Moody teen-beat b-sides like the title track "Hey Lover," a cover of The Five Emprees version of the Don Covay authored track, sit nicely juxtaposed to the garage dwelling angst of "Get It In The End" and "You Don't Get Me Down," and back again to the Souldies sound of "Walking Back,” featuring back-ups from Penrose Records stars The Altons and Vicky Tafoya. But it’s the unique sound of Benny's raspy yet vulnerable lead vocal that carries us through to make for a truly stunning collection of modern pop. Benny's debut full-length record will be release on June 28th, 2024 on Wick Records
