Book/Spirit, David Achelis & 8 Ace, Everlectric, & More — live event

Everlectric is a up-tempo melodic rock, dirty blue and true. Book/Spirit “Meant to Be” is the lead single from Book/Spirit’s forthcoming debut studio album (title TBD) due out in early 2024. The song was originally conceived as a Joy Division-esque riff by singer/guitarist Michael Susa (one of the band’s co-lead singers), but grew into something much more expansive as the group’s other members, Pete Ferrari (vocals/guitar), Garrett Troy (drums), and Pierre Ratzki (guitar), put their fingerprints on it. After cutting their teeth in the Williamsburg and Bushwick scene for the past few years, Book/Spirit entered GB’s Juke Joint in Long Island City in late 2022 to record 9 songs under the guidance of producer/engineer Colin Mohnacs and assisted by David Jacobson on bass. Known for their free-flowing and often improvisational live performances of “Meant to Be”, Mohnacs helped the band distill the song to its essential elements and achieve a more focused sound, while still maintaining the spontaneous energy the band generates on stage. Mastered by Dave McNair, the resulting song features a punk-influenced verse/chorus highlighting the band’s powerful, effect-laden three-guitar approach and showcases Susa’s gritty vocals, before transitioning to a dreamy, atmospheric bridge, and ultimately climaxes in a chaotic outro that increases in tempo like a train coming off the rails in the best way possible.
