Umami House, Lillimure, Plane Station — live event

Umami House, Lillimure, Plane Station

Influenced by melodies of her multicultural upbringing, the New York-based artist draws from introspective lyricism and pulsing grooves for when you want to run away and find yourself at the same time. Lillimure’s genre-bending sound can be described as pop with a heavy sensibility to musicianship influenced by sounds from R&B, jazz, and folk to the likes of John Mayer, Tom Misch, and Emily King. Starting as a crowdfunding campaign in February 2022, Lillimure’s latest single and video “Selfish” is a contemporary reimagining of Old Hollywood, drawing inspiration from actors like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Following her August release “So Far,” “Selfish” continues in that groovy R&b vein, with silky flutes glazing the rhythmic arrangement. She hopes “Selfish” gives her listeners the courage to go for what they want, and is very excited to continue sharing her work debuting as a producer. Plane Station is a singer/songwriter duo comprised of siblings Nick and Brianna Chiapparino. Their sound, honed through years of live performance, is built on harmony, memorable melodies and a collaborative approach to songwriting. Nick and Brianna grew up in the Hudson Valley, New York and began singing together in High School. The duo has fronted many bands spanning a wide variety of genres but with Plane Station are for the first time focused on keeping their unique connection front and center. Their music, often driven either by Nick’s acoustic guitar or Brianna’s piano work, weaves seamlessly through the intimate and the grandiose, whispered lines over a finger picked guitar often give way to soaring harmonies and swelling instrumentation. Their first album, The Other Side, finds the duo exploring themes of love, change and loss in a stripped down, predominantly acoustic setting. On their second LP, 7th Street, Nick and Brianna utilize a full band to build a bigger sound around a batch of songs that were written with the stage in mind. Their third album, Art or Content, released in April 2023, bridges the gap between Plane Station’s acoustic roots and the full band, forming an album that’s both introspective and at times rollicking. Plane Station maintains a busy touring schedule, keeping their seemingly telepathic harmonies at the forefront of sprawling live shows, playing with both their full band and in the stripped back acoustic setting from which the duo was formed.
