Rooted in salsa and Afro-Caribbean rhythms, their music also draws from the traditions of Colombia’s Pacific region, creating a vibrant sound shaped by percussion, collective energy, and the musical heritage of the African diaspora. At the heart of Las Guaracheras’ work is a strong commitment to the visibility and empowerment of women in Latin music. Through their original compositions and lyrics, they celebrate female strength, resilience, and solidarity while challenging the historically male-dominated spaces of the salsa and Latin music industries. Las Guaracheras were selected as 2024–25 Mid Atlantic Arts Performing Arts Global Exchange artists and have brought their music and bilingual educational programs to audiences across the United States. For their Fall 2026 U.S. Tour, Las Guaracheras are giving their performances an additional purpose: using music as a vehicle for solidarity with communities in Colombia affected by a recent tragedy. Through concerts, workshops, and educational activities, the ensemble seeks to transform collective pain into connection and support, reaffirming a principle that has been central to their work from the beginning—the power of music to bring communities together.
