Marian Runk, Rachel Swain — live event on Oct 10, 2026

Marian Runk, Rachel Swain

Rachel Swain live at Judson & Moore Distillery, Chicago on Sat, Oct 10, 8:00 PM. Tickets from $15. Lineup, start time and tickets on Ckord.

Marian Runk’s music “honestly and humorously reflects the ambiguities of being a fallible human.” The Dallas-born, Chicago-based indie folk artist writes detail-oriented and deeply visual songs, sonically in the vein of Karen Dalton, Willie Nelson, Adrianne Lenker, and Gillian Welch. Runk’s 2024 release, Two Wires and a Spark, a folk album with a vintage jazz and country feel, garnered press from Rainbow Rodeo, the Chicago Reader, “The Great American Folk Show,” Oberlin Alumni Magazine, and Americana UK, and explored themes of loneliness, (mis)communication, grief, addiction, and vulnerability. Join us to celebrate the release for her new single, “Scorpion’s Nest," a country two-stepper touching on her Texas childhood and her inscrutable southern grandma. Scorpion's Nest comes out on October 2 anywhere you stream music! Rachel Swain doesn’t mind when people two-step to her pain—she welcomes it. Raised on the sounds of country, classic rock, and soul, Swain’s powerful voice and poignant songwriting have earned her recognition in the Americana scene over the past two decades. A native of Austin, Texas, and later Houston, Swain grew up surrounded by music, learning to play fiddle, guitar, and bass, and honing her skills in projects ranging from indie rock to 60s French pop. With an unmistakable sound that’s rooted in her Texas upbringing, Swain's music is as gritty as it is tender, capturing the full spectrum of human experience.
