BREAKING THE ICE – NYC Student Musicians Take the Stage Led by Albert Marquès & the Institute for Collaborative Education nyICE and NUBLU proudly presents BREAKING THE ICE, a dynamic concert series showcasing young musicians, improvisers and composers performing at some of New York City’s most iconic jazz clubs and rock venues. Led by Albert Marquès, Director of the nyICE Music Department, this series highlights the creativity, discipline and artistic growth of its musicians. About the Concert BREAKING THE ICE features young musicians, improvisers, and composers performing arrangements of classic jazz standards alongside original compositions. The music reflects a wide range of influences, from swing and bebop to Indie rock, free jazz and hip-hop, celebrating both the jazz tradition and contemporary musical voices. This concert will take place at NUBLU on Saturday, January 25 at 2:30 PM and will feature: Two High School Jazz Bands Three bands performing original compositions This performance is especially meaningful as it will be the final concert for the senior musicians, marking the culmination of their time in the nyICE Music Department. Join us for an afternoon of powerful music, original voices and the next generation of NYC musicians taking the stage.
