The Claws — band

Formed in April 2017, The Claws play gut-level Rock 'n Roll from the heart, with a sound that perfectly straddles the line between Saturday night excess and Sunday morning regret. The band pulls it's influences from many sources. Musically, the band cites The Rolling Stones, the Replacements, Tom Petty, Beatles, Chuck Berry, New York Dolls, '77 era punk, Iggy, Johnny Cash, Dylan, Elvis (both Costello & Presley), AC/DC, etc etc etc. The band also cites non-musical influences such as authors like Hunter S. Thompson, Charles Bukowski, William Burroughs, directors like John Carpenter, David Lynch, and many, many other artistic influences from across the map. Cherry/Martin is where the story of The Claws began. This was a collaboration between Chad Cherry and Gary Martin, performing acoustic gigs throughout Los Angeles. This provided an opportunity to hone and craft the earliest songs into dynamic affairs. This is where the roots of the band were planted. By early 2017, it was time to get loud, and go electric. Terry love entered the picture at this point, and the band went into the studio soon after, with short-lived drummer Nate Arling. This resulted in the now out-of-print ep, simply titled "The Claws'. Johnny Haro snagged the drum stool in 2018, and by early 2019 the band had entered the studio once again, this time to record the debut LP 'No Connection'. With recording commenced, and the drum stool vacated once again, Tony Pacheco joined forces with The Claws in 2019. With the 2020 addition of Mike Gavigan on guitars, and a plethora of new material, the band is currently planning the follow-up LP. Stay tuned...
