Xiu Xiu is an experimental band known for their eclectic sound that blends elements of art rock, post-punk, and avant-garde music. Formed in 2002 by Jamie Stewart, the group's work is characterized by its intense and often dissonant soundscapes, featuring a mix of electronic and acoustic instrumentation. Influences range from the raw emotionality of The Smiths to the unconventional structures of avant-garde composers like Krzysztof Penderecki. Xiu Xiu's music often explores themes of despair and vulnerability, delivered through Stewart's distinctive, emotive vocal style.
