Twisted Sister is an American heavy metal band formed in New York in 1973, known for their glam metal style and theatrical live performances. The group rose to prominence in the 1980s with albums like "Stay Hungry" (1984), which featured the hit single "We're Not Gonna Take It." Their sound blends hard rock aggression with glam rock aesthetics, characterized by distorted guitars, powerful vocals from frontman Dee Snider, and elaborate stage costumes. The band drew influence from early heavy metal and glam rock acts, and became one of the defining bands of the 1980s hair metal movement. Twisted Sister disbanded in 1987 but reunited in 2001 for periodic tours and performances.
