Nirvana was a seminal American rock band formed in 1987 in Aberdeen, Washington. Known for pioneering the grunge genre, their music blended elements of punk rock and heavy metal, characterized by raw guitar riffs and introspective lyrics. Influenced by bands like The Melvins, Black Sabbath, and The Pixies, Nirvana's sound was defined by its dynamic contrasts and Kurt Cobain's distinctive vocal style. Their breakthrough album, "Nevermind," played a pivotal role in bringing alternative rock into the mainstream in the early 1990s.
