The Rapture is an American band known for their energetic blend of dance-punk, incorporating elements of post-punk, disco, and electronic music. Emerging from New York City's vibrant scene in the late 1990s, their sound is characterized by driving basslines, angular guitar riffs, and rhythmic percussion. Influenced by artists such as Gang of Four and Talking Heads, The Rapture played a pivotal role in the early 2000s revival of dance-punk. Their music often features a mix of raw, punk-inspired energy with danceable grooves, defining a unique niche within the indie music landscape.
