The Messthetics are an instrumental rock trio known for their dynamic blend of punk, jazz, and experimental rock. Formed by former Fugazi rhythm section members Brendan Canty (drums) and Joe Lally (bass), alongside guitarist Anthony Pirog, the band draws notable influences from the improvisational energy of jazz and the raw intensity of punk rock. Their sound is defined by intricate guitar work, complex rhythms, and a collaborative approach to composition, creating a compelling fusion of structured and freeform musical elements.
