The Growlers are an American band known for their distinctive blend of surf rock, garage rock, and a touch of psychedelia, often categorized under the self-coined genre "beach goth." Formed in 2006 in Dana Point, California, the band's sound is characterized by reverb-heavy guitars, laid-back rhythms, and Brooks Nielsen's unique vocal delivery. Influenced by artists like The Doors and The Strokes, The Growlers have carved out a niche with their eclectic style and DIY ethos. Their music often explores themes of love, loneliness, and the quirks of modern life, resonating with a diverse audience.
