The Gits were an American punk rock band known for their raw, energetic sound and poignant lyrics. Formed in Seattle in the late 1980s, their music was heavily influenced by punk and grunge, with a notable edge brought by frontwoman Mia Zapata's powerful vocals. The band's sound was characterized by its driving guitar riffs and socially conscious themes, setting them apart in the Pacific Northwest music scene. Despite their promising trajectory, The Gits' career was tragically cut short in 1993 with the untimely death of Zapata.
