The Format was an American indie pop band known for their catchy melodies and introspective lyrics. Their sound blended elements of pop rock and alternative, with notable influences from 1970s and 1980s pop music. The band's music often featured lush harmonies and anthemic choruses, defined by the distinctive vocal style of lead singer Nate Ruess. Formed in 2001 in Arizona, The Format released two full-length albums before disbanding in 2008.
