The Dominoes were an influential R&B and gospel vocal group active primarily in the 1950s. Known for their smooth harmonies and dynamic vocal arrangements, they played a pivotal role in the transition from gospel to secular music. Influenced by the gospel tradition and the burgeoning rhythm and blues scene, their sound was characterized by powerful lead vocals and tight, expressive harmonies. Their hit "Sixty Minute Man" is often cited as a precursor to rock and roll, showcasing their ability to blend gospel fervor with a more secular, rhythm-driven approach.
