Slipknot is an American heavy metal band known for their aggressive style and elaborate live performances. Emerging from Des Moines, Iowa, in 1995, the band is often associated with the nu-metal genre, though their sound incorporates elements of alternative metal, groove metal, and industrial influences. Their music is characterized by complex percussion, down-tuned guitars, and intense vocal delivery, often reflecting themes of anger and disillusionment. Influenced by acts such as Black Sabbath, Slayer, and Nine Inch Nails, Slipknot's distinctive aesthetic includes the use of masks and matching uniforms, contributing to their unique identity in the metal scene.
