Silkworm was an American indie rock band known for their raw, unpolished sound that blended elements of post-punk and alternative rock. Formed in 1987 in Missoula, Montana, and later based in Chicago, their music was influenced by bands like Pavement and the Replacements, characterized by jangly guitars and introspective lyrics. The band’s lineup included Andy Cohen, Michael Dahlquist, and Tim Midyett, who contributed to their distinctive, guitar-driven style. Silkworm's sound is marked by its straightforward, no-frills approach, often exploring themes of everyday life and personal reflection.
