Rotting Christ is a Greek metal band known for their pioneering role in the black metal genre, with a sound that incorporates elements of gothic and symphonic metal. Formed in 1987, the band draws notable influences from early black metal acts like Bathory and Celtic Frost, while also integrating traditional Greek music and chant-like vocals into their compositions. Their music is characterized by dark, atmospheric soundscapes, intricate guitar work, and a blend of aggressive and melodic elements, which together define their distinctive style.
