NYPD Pipes & Drums is a fraternal organization of Irish and Irish-American police officers who formed as a band in 1960 as part of the Emerald Society, and are the original police pipe band to organize in the United States. Membership is limited to active and retired police officers. The band has performed throughout New York City's boroughs and neighborhoods, as well as internationally, and has appeared on television shows and in films including the Today Show, Late Night With David Letterman, Copland, The Departed, and Salt.
