Manfred Mann's Earth Band is a South African-British rock group led by keyboardist and bandleader Manfred Mann. Formed in the 1970s as an evolution of the earlier Manfred Mann group, the Earth Band is known for their jazz-rock fusion sound, blending rock with progressive and blues elements. The group became particularly recognized for their interpretations of songs by other artists, most notably Bruce Springsteen's "Blinded by the Light" and "Spirit in the Night." Their style emphasizes Mann's distinctive keyboard work alongside strong horn arrangements, creating a sophisticated yet accessible rock sound. The band has maintained an active touring and recording presence for decades, appealing to audiences who appreciate jazz-influenced rock with strong melodic sensibilities.
