Lil Peep (Gustav Elias Åhr, 1996–2017) was an American rapper and singer who blended emo, trap, and alternative hip-hop into a distinctive sound that resonated with Generation Z audiences. His music drew from influences including grunge, punk, and SoundCloud rap culture, characterized by melodic flows, introspective lyrics about depression and substance use, and lo-fi production aesthetics. He gained prominence in the mid-2010s through social media and streaming platforms, collaborating with artists like Lil Tracy and Wicca Phase Springs Eternal. His style helped define a wave of emo-rap that emerged in the late 2010s, though his career was cut short by his death from an accidental overdose in November 2017.
