Ladyhawke is a New Zealand synthpop and indie rock artist from Masterton, known for her distinctive blend of 1980s-influenced synth production and alternative rock sensibilities. Her debut self-titled album (2008) established her signature sound: crisp electronic arrangements paired with angular guitar work and her distinctive vocal delivery. Influences include post-punk and new wave acts, evident in her use of synthesizers and the overall aesthetic of her early work. Her music combines pop accessibility with indie rock edge, creating atmospheric yet energetic compositions. She has continued to evolve her sound across subsequent releases while maintaining her core identity as a synth-forward alternative artist.
