Julien Baker is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist from Forreston, Tennessee, known for emotionally intense indie rock and alternative music. Her work blends guitar-driven arrangements with introspective, often confessional lyrics that explore themes of identity, faith, and internal conflict. Baker's sound draws from influences including PJ Harvey, Neutral Milk Hotel, and classic rock, characterized by dynamic shifts between quiet, sparse passages and explosive, distortion-heavy crescendos. She gained wider recognition with her 2017 debut album "Little Oblivions," which showcased her raw vocal delivery and innovative guitar work. Her music is defined by its vulnerability and sonic experimentation, establishing her as a distinctive voice in contemporary indie rock.
